Academics
Within the Middletown City District and at Presidential Park Elementary, we strive to provide the highest quality educational experience for every scholar.
Each day scholars begin their school day sharing a pre-fuel meal with their classmates. This gives our scholars and teachers time to connect and to build relationships. Scholars engage in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) each morning after pre-fuel to learn about social emotional situations, feelings, and solutions. We value this daily time because it supports our Middletown belief of Connection Before Content.
After pre-fuel and Social Emotional Learning, our scholars begin their academic day. Each day includes assigned instructional time for English Language Arts, Mathematics, and either Social Studies or Science. Scholars also have a daily special of Art, Music, Library, or Physical Education. Re-fuel (lunch) and recess are also part of our school day. Our academic day is rich and engaging. Scholars participate in whole group and small group differentiated instruction planned and designed to meet the needs of our scholars. We aim to foster a passion for learning and to create lifelong learners.
Throughout the school year, we offer multiple opportunities to communicate with you about your scholar’s academic progress. Every five weeks, Interim Reports are completed and shared to give you a midterm progress update. Then, every ten weeks, a full report card is completed and shared with you. We also host Parent Teacher Conferences twice a year in the fall and in the spring. Each of these communications shares a common goal to keep you up to date on your scholar’s academic progress.
We have talented and knowledgeable teachers within our classrooms. Administration regularly visits our classrooms to observe learning experiences and to discuss learning. We look to build strong relationships with our families for our educational experience is a collaborative relationship among our teachers, parents, and school administration.
